Incorporating ecological literacy is an integral part of the Besant Hill School college preparatory program. An ecologically literate student is solution-oriented and has a developing awareness of the ways in which we are all connected to the world around us, to each other, and to those who will come after us. For our students to become positive change agents in the 21st century, they need to be informed and to engage in conversations about environmental issues, as well as practicing strategies that help preserve the environment on a daily basis. They do this through recycling programs in the dormitories and assisting in the composting of food waste.
